Cultural Climate Change Pitching

How would you further the cultural climate change with 2026 euros?

In March, it is again the time to pitch innovative ideas that will further the cultural climate change, which is also the main goal of European Capital of Culture bidding project Oulu2026. At Cultural Climate Change Pitching, the participants will present their novel proposition that utilises culture in making Oulu and other cities better places to live. The winning pitch will receive €2026 to implement their idea. The final round of pitches takes place on 4th March 2021 virtually to allow entries from around the world.

The concept of cultural climate change is about reconnecting. It can take place between people and culture; technology and art; people and nature; nature and culture; or different types of individuals and areas. We are looking for innovative ideas on how one can use culture to reconnect different actors in spontaneous ways that will result in a better living environment. In 2020, the winning team was a group of Finnish and Russian students who combined art with sustainable transportation.

See the Pitching Brief below for more details. Registration closes on 31st January 2021. The event is organised by Oulu2026 and CULTA.

Cultural Climate Change Pitching Brief:

  • You will need to present a novel idea on how one can use culture to reconnect different actors in a way that will result in a better living environment.
  • The pitch can be visualised by any creative means desired and assistants are allowed. Your creativity is the only limit.
  • You can enter the pitching competition as an organisation, a company or an individual.
  • The pitches must be presented in English.
  • The pitching competition consists of three rounds:
    • 1st round: fill out the form presenting your pitching idea.
    • 2nd round: record your pitch (length: 1min).
    • Final round: record the pitch that will be presented in the online event (length: max. 3mins).
  • The winning pitch will receive €2026 to implement their idea. The prize will be invoiced, thus a VAT number (Y-tunnus) is required.

The pre-jury will select fifteen most interesting ideas out of the proposals received by 31st January 2021. The pitches moving to the second round will be announced on 3rd February 2021 and they have a week to submit their one-minute long pitch video (deadline: 10th February 2021). The pre-jury will choose eight ideas for the final round of pitches. These will be announced by 12th February 2021. The finalists will then have to send in their pre-recorded final pitches by 28th February 2021.

The final of Cultural Climate Change Pitching will be held online on 4th March 2021 from 17:00 (EET).
